Beda's wooden cell phone holders for SolidarMed
9-year-old Beda Meyer finds it hard to put down his file and glue stick. In the spring of 2021, he came up with the idea of creating individual cell phone holders out of wood and cardboard. He quickly converted his parents' Corona-closed restaurant into a workshop. During the winter months, the creative mind busily created numerous of these small pieces of art.
No one is too small to do great things
Beda thought it was unfair that not everyone was as well off as he was. He thought about what he could actively do about it. He had once made a cell phone holder for himself. He wanted to make this invention for other people as well and sell the iconic wooden items in a fundraising campaign for SolidarMed.
Commitment to people in southern Africa
Beda received many orders from friends and acquaintances, all of which he carried out with pleasure. Color of the wooden paint as well as the cardboard he designs individually as desired. Thanks to the cardboard Beda can adjust the angle of the phone standing in the holder. Each buyer determines the price himself. All proceeds go to SolidarMed. "I have only recently started making cell phone holders and have already collected 850 Swiss francs," says the hard-working craftsman, not without pride. With his commitment, Beda wants to contribute to better health for people in southern Africa. SolidarMed thanks him very much for this extraordinary commitment.
Cell phone holder production continues
Beda's cell phone holders are currently on exhibit in the window of Meyer Kulturbeiz at Bundesplatz 3 in Lucerne. Beda or his parents are still happy to take orders on site or by e-mail (jatibe.meyer@gmail.com).
