Second mobile clinic in Lesotho
Last week, the team in Lesotho was able to launch a second mobile clinic to bring primary health care services to remote and underserved villages in the mountains of Mokhotlong.
Two years after the successful launch of a Mobile Health Unit, a 2nd was launched in the remote and mountainous Mokhotlong district in the presence of the Minister of Health. This is important so that other regions that are medically underserved can benefit from mobile health services. Each unit has a driver and nurse and is fully equipped to provide primary care services to the rural population. Thanks to the additional vehicle, villages in the mountains of Mokhotlong can be provided with vital health services.
In Lesotho, over 40% of the population live in remote villages that are difficult to access. The country has the second highest HIV rate in the world. This is why community outreach services are essential to increase access to health care.
This mobile practice is the result of a joint project between SolidarMed and the Canadian organization Bracelet of Hope.
